Questions Homeowners Ask Before They Book Us
Practical answers about how we work, what we charge, where we go, and what to do in an emergency. Have one that isn't here? Call (480) 896-0325 and ask.
4 Daughters Electric is a family-owned electrician serving Gilbert and the East Valley, reachable at (480) 896-0325, Monday to Friday 9am–8pm and Saturday 9am–5pm. Below are the questions we hear most often before a first visit — on pricing, scheduling, emergencies and how we work.
Working with us
How do you price your work?
For defined jobs — a panel upgrade, an EV charger, a ceiling fan — we quote a firm price up front, so the invoice matches the number you approved. For diagnostics, there's a set visit rate you'll know before we start, and once we find the fault we quote the repair before doing it.
Do you offer free estimates?
A lot can be sorted out on the phone at no cost — call and describe the job. For defined installations we can often give pricing after a quick look or a clear description. Diagnostic visits, where the value is finding the fault, carry a set rate we tell you in advance.
How soon can you come out?
It depends on the day's schedule, but we prioritize genuine emergencies for same-day attention within our hours. Call (480) 896-0325 and we'll give you the soonest available window.
What areas do you serve?
Gilbert and the East Valley — Higley, Mesa, Chandler, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Apache Junction and Sun Lakes. See our service areas. If you're near the edge of that map, just ask.
Are you a licensed and insured electrician?
For questions about licensing, insurance and registration, please ask us directly at (480) 896-0325 and we'll give you a straight answer. We don't make claims we can't back up, and we treat any permit and inspection a job requires as part of doing it properly.
Emergencies and safety
What should I do while I wait for an emergency visit?
Shut off the affected circuit — or the main if you're unsure which — and unplug what you safely can. Don't reset a breaker that won't hold, and don't keep using a warm or smelling outlet. If there are flames that don't stop when power is cut, leave and call 911. For everything else, call (480) 896-0325. More on emergency service.
My power is out — how do I know if it's the utility or my home?
If your neighbors are dark too, it's likely a utility outage — check SRP or APS. If only your home, or part of it, is affected, that points to your panel or service and is worth a call.
Is it safe to fix electrical problems myself?
Simple like-for-like swaps with the power off are reasonable for a careful homeowner; anything at the panel, new circuits, or work needing a permit should go to a professional. Our guide on DIY vs. hiring an electrician covers where the line is.
Projects and permits
Do I need a permit, and will you handle it?
Panel work, service upgrades, new circuits, and EV and generator installs generally require a permit and inspection; simple repairs usually don't. When a permit applies, we pull it and coordinate the inspection and any utility work. See panel permits.
Will you tell me if I don't actually need the work?
Yes — that's central to how we operate. If a repair beats a replacement, a cheaper fix is right, or you don't need us at all, we'll say so. Talking you out of unnecessary work is how we earn the next call and the referral.
Can you work alongside my contractor or on a remodel?
Do you provide references or reviews?
Our live reviews are on our Google Business Profile and Facebook page. We'd rather point you to real, verifiable feedback than quote a number we can't source.
